Q: How many lessons will I need ?

A:The DSA recommends that it will take a pupil an average of 40 hrs to learn to drive to ‘test standard’. However, everyone is different when it comes to learning to drive – the amount of tuition required will depend on how quickly you learn and pick things up. I offer all beginners an initial 2hr assessment lesson so that I can assess your driving knowledge and skills, then plan a series of lessons based on this to get you to the point where you are ready to take your driving test.

Q: If I just do it like this (driving maneuvoure) - will I pass my test ?

A: I am not just teaching you how to pass your driving test and achieve your licence; I am teaching you SAFE DRIVING FOR LIFE. At the end of the day, I want to enable you to become a competent and safe driver for the rest of your life - not just for test day.

Q: What car will I take my test in ?

A: My car. This is after all the car that you have been learning to drive in over the time of your course with MDS. My Car will be available for you to take your test in (unless you would prefer to use a relative’s or your own vehicle).

Q: What is Pass Plus ?

A: A Pass Plus course is a good way of improving your driving skills further once you have successfully gained your licence. It can also have the added advantage of lowering your car insurance premiums. (Subject to insurance provider).

This course consists of 6 modules which cover:

  • Driving in town
  • Driving in all weathers
  • Driving on rural roads
  • Driving at night
  • Driving on dual carriageways
  • Driving on motorways

At the end of the course you will be handed a certificate which you can present to your insurance provider to claim a discount.

Q: Will doing a Pass Plus course save me money on my insurance ?

A: This will depend on the insurance provider - some do offer a discount for drivers if they have completed this course and some do not.

Q: Do I have to do a test to pass the Pass Plus course ?

A: No, not at all. You just have to meet the required standard in each of the six modules covered.
